Matt Lewis

CFO - Partner at Recovery Roofing

Matt Lewis, Chief Financial Officer at Recovery Roofing, Jacksonville, FL, Southeast

My career in roofing began in 2021, when Drew invited me to move to Jacksonville, FL and partner with him and Jason in building a young, fast-growing company. The opportunity to make an impact was appealing, and with a background in Construction Management from Georgia Southern University, and prior experience working with a general contractor on large government projects, it was a natural fit. Over the years, Matt has earned certifications from many of the industry’s leading manufacturers and systems including PolyGlass, JM, Pli-Dek, GAF, Henry and Carlisle to name a few. Personal field certifications include OSHA-30, Certa Torch Application, Aerial Lift and Lull Operation, Fall Protection and Scaffolding Competent Person. This extensive training ensures that every project he touches is supported by both the right approach as well as the technical knowledge to provide the right fit for each project.

One of the most valuable parts of my career has been the two years I spent hands-on in the field, running projects directly on the roof. That experience provided an education you can’t find in a classroom—it continues to influence how I approach every area of the business.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to many notable projects, including:

  • Baptist Prudential

  • UF Recreation Center

  • UF Health (Shands) POB & Tower

  • City of St. Augustine – Lightner Museum

  • Jaxport

Today, I serve as a partner in the company, with responsibilities that shift based on the needs of the business. My work spans the spectrum—from CFO to Operations Manager to overseeing Repairs. Some days I’m in the field, other days I’m focused on estimating and managerial tasks, but my role always comes down to one thing: ensuring the daily success of the company.

Mentorship is also a cornerstone of my leadership. We work to empower our team by giving them the tools and confidence to succeed. Watching employees with little to no roofing experience grow into leadership roles in a short period of time has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.

The accomplishment I am most proud of is not a single project, but the overall success of the company and the people who make it possible. Roofing is not easy work, yet what we do enriches lives and provides for countless families. Seeing how this company has grown and how it continues to impact lives is a true testament to what God has done—and continues to do—every day.
